Rance 01 -Quest for Hikari Walkthrough
This is a walkthrough for the first Rance game's remake, Rance : Quest for Hikari. It will not work with the original 1989 game and its ports, Rance -Quest for Hikari-.
The guide uses terminology from the latest official translation by MangaGamer. It may not be accurate if you're using an older version.
Introduction
Do keep in mind: turn count does not matter in Rance 01.
Instead, you may be locked out of completing some sub-quests by performing actions that progress the story. These can prevent you from getting character clears, some CGs, and some mini-events.
Thus, you should:
- save your progress often,
- farm as much gold and chips (items) as you want,
- sleep to heal up whenever needed,
- visit and revisit various characters, as many can unlock more actions and events.
The guide below will highlight event expiry conditions with underlining. Expiry conditions are actions which will lock you out of certain events once they are completed.
The expiry conditions are listed by the earliest point they can appear; however, they may not necessarily be the first event you'll come across. Just keep these conditions in mind while playing to avoid missing out on any side content.
Getting started
The game begins with the guild master Keith explaining that you're on a quest to find Hikari, a cute redhead that has disappeared in Leazas. Following this, there's a short tutorial that will guide you through the basics of dungeon crawling, combat, and Rance 01's gameplay gimmick, chips.
Just play through it at your own pace. Feel free to read Game mechanics for details on how the four interfaces work (battles, dungeon crawling, city map, and ADV).
Leazas Town Introduction
After the dungeon tutorial, you'll arrive in the castle town of Leazas. Rance sends Sill to gather information by infiltrating the school Hikari attends, Paris Academy, but he realizes he left his money with her.
After failing to call Sill in Paris Academy, there's nothing important to do on Day 1. Spend the day exploring Central Park and/or Bistro Bar Flanders, getting familiar with exploration and interactions. Don't loiter unless you want to skip forward in-game time.
- First location: When you're done exploring, make your way to the inn, Rock Candy, where you will find the Nipponese innkeeper, Nami.
As Rance doesn't have any money, he offers his sword as collateral for staying at the inn, leaving you weaponless for the time being.
Try out all of the actions in the inn. Here is where you can save and load your game, use the closet for item storage, and sleep to pass time and recover HP.
- Unlock new area: Once you're ready to progress, sleep in the inn. When you leave the inn the following morning, Nami will tell you about the item shop, Beach Shop Baltic, which will be unlocked on the town map. The Outer Gate will also be unlocked.
- Unlock new area: Enter Beach Shop Baltic and talk to Patty, the shop owner. After asking a couple times about Hikari, you'll unlock the weapon shop, Lost Hope.
The weapon shop is closed in the morning, so you have time to explore. Avoid the outer gate, as without a weapon, you will not be able to fight back against enemies. At this point, you can return to Paris Academy and call Sill to get some gold and an HCG. Note that assaulting her will force the interaction to end.
Once it's noon, you can enter the weapon shop to meet Millie.
First talk with Millie
Event expiry: Asking Millie about the thief gang makes her 1st mini-event disappear
- Upon meeting Millie, assault her to get a short mini-event where Patty shows up. Once you ask her about the thief gang, you will be locked out of this mini-event.
- Be careful touching something; it will damage you.
- Unlock new conversation option with Bobza: Ask Millie about Hikari and the thief gang. This will unlock a new conversation option at the bar, which is required for the main storyline.
- After asking about the thief gang, you can assault Millie again. This time a different scene will occur where a guard kicks you out of the shop. This is the first of many Millie events that will require you to wait a few days before you can trigger the next one.
Your objective on Day 2 should be to obtain some money and begin the next story quest.
- Assault something in the park for gold.
- Call Sill at Paris Academy and ask for money if you haven't already.
- Next story quest: Go to the bar and ask about the thief gang multiple times to accept the next main story quest and gain 100 gold.
Use your money to buy some items from Millie before heading to the outer gate. For now it's better to buy two Attack chips if you can, due to the shields' cooldown and mostly weak monsters, but pick whatever you like.
Leazas Outskirts
Once armed, you will be safe to exit the town via the Outer Gate and do your first (non-tutorial) battles. Be careful, as the further you go in the Leazas Outskirts, the stronger monsters will be. Keep these tips in mind:
- If you die, you can select to restart from the auto-save, which will be the start of the dungeon you're in (Leazas Outskirts in this case).
- If you know a monster is too strong, you have an option to run away. It has a 100% success rate, but it will cost some of your gold.
- Look for the green card to safely return to the Leazas town; alternatively, you can select "Set Up Camp" and hurry back to town.
- Caution: Going to the lake past the Saint Alice monument will trigger a boss fight with a 1800 HP monster.
Event expiry: Entering the thieves' hideout immediately will lock out some later events
- Defeat the thief in Leazas Outskirts' Road. If you enter the cave before doing this, you will be locked out of some events later on.
Afterwards, get back to the Leazas town and sleep for the night.
Purple-haired girl events
Every time you return to the Leazas town map, there is a chance that a purple-haired girl will appear.
- If you meet her three times, you can then find her in the park at night. You will see an event and lose all of your gold; spend all of it before going to the park at night to avoid any major losses.
Level up with Willis
On Day 3, you will meet Willis, the owner of Fujisaki Levels, when returning to the Leazas town. Once you have the required EXP, you can talk to her to level up.
Event expiry: Using chip "Aliceman Copper"
- Willis will sometimes give you an item called Aliceman Copper Coin (first one at level 13). It is not recommended to use it for attacking, as its power is fairly low. Read more about it on the skills page.
- When you reach level 20, talk to Willis and she will ask for a "Wing Pie". You can get the pie as a drop from defeating a "Tricorn" in Leazas Outskirts. Bring it back to Willis and hand it to her to get her HCG.
- Warning: The Tricorn is an A rank enemy with S+ attack, so you likely will still be too weak to face this at level 20. You can defeat it with some good consumables, or just wait until you're more powerful.
The Thieves' Hideout
After leveling up a couple times at Fujisaki Levels (a day of fighting weaker enemies in the Leazas Outskirts should do), the weapons shop will be stocked with more powerful weapons, which will both help you fight the mini-boss in the thieves' hideout.
Entering the cave will bring you to the Thieves' Hideout dungeon.
Mini-event expiry: Go to the cave at noon to avoid a battle
- If you go to the cave during the morning or night, and you will get an extra battle. Go at noon to skip it. If you fight them at level 9 with starting gear, you'll most likely lose, so level up and get another weapon first if you intend to fight the guards.
After entering the Thieves' Hideout dungeon, you can enter the Hall to encounter Murala.
Info Shop I.NET
- New area unlocked: After entering the Thieves' Hideout and returning to the Leazas town, you will now be able to visit the info shop I.NET.
Here you can pay gold for hints to get HCGs (at random) and learn information about heroines. The robot also sells a few items that can be useful in dungeons.
Mini-boss Murala
Event expiry: Pay Murala and you can avoid fighting him
- You should be at least level 11 and have a club and sword or better to fight Murala. However, if you try leaving the hall before fighting him, you can unlock the option of giving him 100G and avoiding the fight.
- After Murala is dealt with, you will be able to descend the stairs
Thieves' Hideout Depths
On the right side of the upper floor of the Thieves' Hideout dungeon, there is a Storage room. Here, you will obtain a Tension Shelf chip, which can be used to expand closet space at the inn. There are two more of these in later dungeons.
Past the Storage room, you can enter the Storage Depths room. Here you will meet British.
Event expiry: Use the chip "Miracle Omega" and you will be denied several events later on
- After exhausting all interactions with British, leave and return to the Storage Depths a second time, and a new command will appear to search the ground. Search twice and then pick up a chip called "Miracle Omega". Save this chip for later to unlock some events.
Event expiry: Use the chip 250-Year Vintage and you will be locked out of an HCG
- Visit the Storage room a third time to obtain the chip 250-Year Vintage. Save it in your inventory to use it later in the dungeon for an HCG.
After descending the stairs in the Thieves' Hideout, you can follow the left path to reach the Lieutenant's Room. Here you meet Necai; exhaust your interactions with her to progress.
- If you have the 250-Year Vintage, you can give it to Necai for her HCG.
- Give Necai a Wine chip to obtain the Spare Key. You can get Wine chips by going directly to the right after leaving the Lieutenant's Room, completing a loop around the dungeon, and reaching the yellow Wine card.
Saving Pulptenks
Event expiry: Defeating the Reihardt will disable Necai's HCG and the purple-haired girl's park event
- View Necai and the purple-haired girl's events before fighting Reihardt if you want them.
On the lower floor of the Thieves' Hideout, go straight from the center to enter the Leader's Room. With the key, you can enter this room and fight Reihardt.
- Reihardt should be another easy fight, he's only slightly stronger than Murala.
- Afterwards, you can try some interaction options to obtain some gold.
Pulptenks will become a chip in your inventory as you head back to town.
Event expiry: Going to the bar with Pulptenks expires her mini-event
- You can trigger a mini-event with Pulptenks in your inventory by sleeping at the inn (no HCG).
- Enter the bar, and Pulptenks leaves your inventory.
Leazas Town Continued
Ninja Fight
This battle happens if you enter the Leazas town map between 1-5pm, meaning it can happen right after you return Pulptenks to the pub.
- Unlock new area: After fighting the ninja, you'll unlock the Leazas Castle Gate.
Climbing the Castle Wall
After you visit the Leazas Castle Gate for the first time, you can return to interact with Menad; one interaction choice is "Climb The Wall":
- Every time you climb the wall, you'll reach 1-2 meters higher than the last attempt. You will fall every time, taking 30 damage per meter climbed.
- The top of the wall is 20 meters high—reaching it will reward you with EXP. Be sure to heal between attempts!
Obtaining the Castle Pass
When you go to Paris Academy and call for Sill, a girl called Sarma will appear. Talk to her and she'll mention that Sill is out on an errand.
Go to the park where you will find Sill feeding a dog. Talk to her and then you will be able to take the Castle Pass from her.
Event expiry: Leaving Sill at the park may miss her park HCG
- You can only meet Sill at the park once. She has a unique HCG that you can get by assaulting her.
After this, you will be able to enter the castle to progress the story; however, there is still plenty more you can do in the town. You will be able to freely move between the castle and the town as long as you're holding the Castle Pass.
Gambling With Hazuki
A new character, Hazuki, will now appear in Bistro Bar Flanders in the afternoon. After interacting with her a bit, you will gain the option to "Gamble with Hazuki". Gambling with Hazuki at the bar is not random; you will always win 1 bet and then lose the next 3.
Event expiry: Using Hazuki's Business Card chip in combat will lock you out of later events!
- After 8 bets, you will obtain Hazuki's business card—this will be relevant for later events. After that, you should bet against her a 9th time to recoup 200g.
Pulptenks's Lust
Pulptenks will now appear at Bistro Bar Flanders at night.
After first interacting with her at the bar, if you appear at exactly 7pm, you will trigger a mini-event where she is worried about something. You can then buy the I.Reader for 980g at Info Shop I.NET and use it on Pulptenks.
- You may need to exhaust all interactions in I.NET to get the option to buy the I.Reader.
After finding out Pulptenks's inner desires, return to the Leader's Room in the Thieves' Hideout to find the item "Reihardt's Serpent".
- The Reihardt's Serpent chip can be used on gal monsters for Explicit Attacks. Unlike other Explicit Attack items, however, it can be used repeatedly without losing it.
- Giving Pulptenks Reihardt's Serpent will unlock a new HCG; however, you will lose the chip. If you want to keep it for capturing gal monsters, either save this HCG until later, or make a save, view the scene, and then reload.
Millie's Misfortune
In order to see Millie's next event, assault her a total of 4 times (starting from when the guard kicked you out) with at least 3 days between each one.
- Important: Take your time doing this, as after seeing the event, you'll have a strict time limit to defeat a powerful boss-monster.
- After this condition is met, the next time you visit Millie's store, there will be an event where 2 bandits are attacking Millie.
- After you leave the store, return and you will find that Millie is missing. Also, robbers will no longer appear in Leazas town at night.
Event expiry: Third day after Millie disappears
After Millie disappears, you only have a couple days to find her; on the third day after disappearing, she will return, and you will not get her event. Additionally, if Patty is also gone, you will not be able to continue Millie's event until she is back.
To find Millie, you have to:
- Ask Patty about Millie's whereabouts twice.
- You will get an extremely strong consumable chip, Echo Hangers. While you can use it on this boss, you can also alternatively save it for the colosseum later on. You can get more of these elsewhere later.
- Go to the Leazas Outskirts and find the Lake Monster, which is found shortly after the Saint's Monument. If you made it in time, you should get a scene with Millie, followed by a battle with the Lake Monster.
Millie in the Haunted House
- After rescuing Millie, you can now assault her again at the shop for a new mini-event. Then, ask Willis for advice until she tells you about the Unhappy Glasses. (If the option doesn't show up, talk to her until it appears.)
- The next event can only be completed later, after unlocking the "Haunted house (妃円屋敷)" (See Expiry condition: Adjust the clock)
Leazas Castle
In order to enter the castle, you need to have the Castle Pass in your inventory while trying to enter at the Castle Gate.
There are several new areas upon entering the castle:
- Unlock new area: Laplace Guest Room - this location has most of the same functions from Nami's inn; the only difference is that you can't expand your closet with tension shelf chips here.
- Unlock new area: Royal Colosseum.
- Unlock new area: Royal Casino Hong Kong Macau.
You have a bunch of options you can take right now, but let's start with Miki's events.
The Mouse and Miki
At night, enter the Laplace Guest Room and meet the Pervert Mouse.
- Bring the Miracle Omega to the Pervert Mouse and talk to him several times; you'll lose the chip for now, but you'll learn about Miki. - Unlocks new area: Swan Guest Room (Miki's Room).
Miki's events are very dangerous; you should be at least level 18 before attempting them.
- Take panties three times in the Swan Guest Room.
- Warning: you will take 444 damage the 2nd and 3rd times, so you'll need to be at least level 18 to survive each one.
- Ask about panties at Beach Shop Baltic and then buy the Baltic Underwear chip.
- Bring the Baltic Underwear to the Laplace Guest Room at night and select "Give Underwear".
- Return to the Laplace Guest Room during the day and talk to Fey; then, ask her about the laundry until she leaves to see Miki.
- Go back to the Swan Guest Room and you will obtain Miki's Underwear.
Event expiry: Giving Miki's Underwear to the Pervert Mouse locks you out of her game-over CG
- Once you get Miki's Underwear, there is a CG for Miki by going to her room and selecting the action to take her panties again. It will not occur once you hand her panties over to the rat. It will deal 999 damage and cause an instant game-over, so save first.
Afterward, you can give Miki's Underwear to the Pervert Mouse. In return, you will be able to get an upgraded Miracle Omega potion with one of the following buffs:
- "Brute Anglo-American" gives +160 max HP
- "Salary Assessment" gives +2 chip inventory space
- "Juso Honmachi" triples barehanded combat damage
It is instantly consumed upon chanting the spell.
Getting the Colosseum Pass
To start fighting in the Colosseum, you need to get a Colosseum Pass. To begin the relevant quest:
- Go to the Royal Colosseum.
- Look at Something, then look at the rankings.
- Select the Assault option "Fight in Arena" - Unlock new area: Audience Hall.
- Leave and go to the Audience Hall.
- Ask the king about the Colosseum Pass four times.
- Talk to Menad at the Leazas Castle Gate a couple times, then ask her about the Colosseum Pass. - Unlock new area: Margarine Heroes' Cemetery
After that, at night, visit the Margarine Heroes' Cemetery (in the bottom right of the Leazas town) and you will have a battle, followed by exploring the Cemetery dungeon.
Event expiry: Getting the Colosseum Pass from Menad without triggering all 5 blue cards will deny you Menad's HCG
In order to get Menad's HCG and a unique item, you must trigger the boss fight.
- Warning: Even after defeating the boss, you must have more than 10% of your HP; otherwise, the following event will kill you. Make sure you're well equipped and bring some healing consumables (use them before the boss fight).
- To trigger the boss fight, get all 5 of the blue cards in the dungeon. You can leave and return, cards you've already visited will still count.
- If you get the Ruined area before the other 4 blue cards or lose against the boss, you will still receive the Colosseum Pass, but Menad will disappear from the cemetery and you will no longer be able to get her HCG or item.
After defeating the zombie elf:
- Look at Something, then loot the zombie elf twice—you will lose 10% HP, but obtain the "Exotic Twins" chip.
- Take the Colosseum Pass.
- Assault Menad twice, talk to her, and assault her once more for her HCG.
After you complete her HCG, you will no longer need the Castle Pass chip to enter the castle, so you can throw it away.
Note that if you go back to the Neglected Grave after the boss fight, you will have to fight the Elf Zombie 4 more times in a row, without being allowed to return to the dungeon screen or escape back to town. She gets more hp each time you defeat her. She is classified as a gal monster, so if you want her HCG, use Explicit attacks to defeat her (as well as every time she revives).
Colosseum Pit
Return to the Royal Colosseum with the Colosseum Pass and you will be able to start fighting.
You can either choose to fight the opponent 1 rank higher or 2 ranks higher than you (see: colosseum opponents).
- Fighting 2 ranks higher than you will get through them quicker, but fighting each opponent 1 rank higher will get you more money and unique fights. You can only participate in 1 fight per day.
- Luis will only appear if you defeated him at the beginning of the game, before entering the Thieves' Hideout.
After Rance wins the first match, the 6th ranking opponent, Jean, will approach you.
- Talk to him twice, then take his money twice for 800g.
- There is no unique event for intentionally losing the battle, so when you reach Jean in the Colosseum, beat him regardless.
Event expiry: Advance past 6th rank in the colosseum and you will lose access to Menad's mini-event
- While you're between 6th and 8th place in the Colosseum rankings, enter the castle map between 2-4pm and you will trigger a short scene involving Menad. This will be no longer possible if you advance higher than 6th rank.
The Colosseum questline is continued further below; it is recommended to do the Royal Casino questline first, though.
Royal Casino Scandal
To do the Royal Casino questline, you need to have Hazuki's Business Card from gambling with her in the bar. With it in your inventory, enter the Casino at night and ask about gambling; then, you'll have the option to gamble with Hazuki.
- Note that after the first time you enter the Royal Casino, you will no longer need the business card to enter.
What you need to know about gambling at the casino:
- The roulette results are skewed in the player's favor (until Hazuki starts cheating).
- If you're unlucky, you can lose a significant amount of gold from gambling. Save before starting, and reload if you have to.
- You should bring 2000+ gold before gambling with Hazuki, because you're almost certain to lose at least a few times; if you leave and come back, you have to start all over again.
After you several times in one session, a mini-event will play where Hazuki plans to cheat. You have to play against her and win once more after that so that she actually cheats; you'll end up losing.
Once Hazuki cheats, leave and you'll encounter an event where you meet a girl accusing Hazuki of cheating. The next day, go to the park to recruit Aki—she'll become a chip in your inventory.
- Warning: You will be forced to throw out a chip if you don't have a free inventory slot.
- Unlock new area: The Castle Prison.
After this, go to the Prison. It's located inside the castle, but can only be entered in the morning.
Event expiry: Advance into the dungeon to find Yuki and you lose Jericho's HCG
After meeting Jericho in the Prison, ask her about Yuki. Then, leave and ask Menad about Jeri twice.
When you go back to the Prison, this is your only opportunity to:
- Ask About Something Boring
- Assault Jericho and get her HCG - Jericho's HCG will no longer be available after you advance into the dungeon.
To make it through the castle dungeon, it's a good idea, but not strictly necessary, to get the "Crime Boots" chip from Patty's store. They allow you to pass through the traps. They will appear in Patty's shop after you win the first fight in the Colosseum. Alternatively, you can refer to the map.
- You may want to also get the hidden treasure chest (see: map), which gives you the Super Spanker weapon.
- The objective is the blue card called "Yuki" at the end of the dungeon. You will lose the Aki chip after this.
Afterward, go Bistro Bar Flanders at noon and Talk About Something to get the "Circlekiller Sake" chip. Then, return to the Casino with the chip in your inventory, and gamble with Hazuki.
The Circlekiller Sake will negate Hazuki's cheating when you win, but you still have a small chance of losing each time.
- Win 8 times to get 10,000g.
- Win one more time, and then you can assault Hazuki. After that, follow her to get her HCG.
Jericho's Contraband
- You can return to Jericho in the prison at any time to buy some items from her. Look and talk a few times, then you'll have an extra option to Buy Contraband. These can include some combat-related chips and a Tension Shelf.
Aki's panties mini-event and ATOK chip
After getting Hazuki's HCG (and provided you've done Miki's quest for the upgraded Miracle Omega), there's another mini-event with the Pervert Mouse.
- Talk About Something with the Pervert Mouse at night until you exhaust the option.
- Go to the Central Park at 3PM twice to get Aki's Underwear. This event does not expire.
- Return to the Pervert Mouse and select Give Underwear with Aki's Underwear in your inventory to get the ATOK weapon chip.
Colosseum, Further
Event expiry: Give Luis 10g and you'll miss Yulan's 3rd HCG later on
Another thing to pay attention to is that after completing the Casino quests, if you fought and beat Luis in the Colosseum, you can return to the Casino and look around twice to find Luis. You then have the option of giving him the 10g he asks for.
- If you give him gold before seeing Yulan's 3rd HCG: You will get her good ending, but you'll miss her 3rd HCG.
- Otherwise, she will end up worse, but you'll be able to get her 3rd HCG.
Ninja Master and the Khien Manor
Continue fighting at the Colosseum until you defeat the Ninja Master (rank 4):
- After the battle, you will meet Maris and be told about Princess Lia's admiration - Unlock new area: Princess's Waiting Room
If visit Princess Lia in the Princess's Waiting Room, she will ask that you exterminate ghosts at the royal family's villa.
- Unlock new area: Khien Manor (in the Leazas town).
Event expiry: Using the chip "Personality Switch Scroll" will deny you Sill's 3rd HCG
Enter the Colosseum after defeating Ninja Master (rank 4) to obtain the Personality Switch Scroll chip. Don't use it in battle, as you can get Sill's HCG with it.
- After obtaining it, call Sill at the academy; then, select "Use Personality Switch Scroll" to get Sill's 3rd HCG. You lose the chip after this.
Event expiry: Fight Yulan with OR without the Purslip and you'll miss some HCGs
Depending on whether you use Purslip when fighting Yulan (how to get one is described later), you will get two different (but similar) HCGs.
You should save beforehand, then defeat her without Purslip first; reload after and use the Purslip to get the second HCG (plus an opportunity for Nami's HCG later).
Fighting Yulan WITHOUT the Purslip
- Yulan has 600HP.
- She always has 1350 attack/540 defense on Turn 1, and 10 attack/10 defense on Turn 2.
- Note: If you fight her after Sill is added to your party, Yulan will be buffed, dealing around 4250 damage on the first turn. (You don't get any extra text for fighting her after getting Sill.)
- The Echo Hangers from Millie's Disappearance quest can be used; it's a consumable with 1080 attack and 450 defense. Note: If you used the Echo Hangers to save Millie, don't worry, you can occasionally get it from treasure chests on the first floor of Khien Manor.
- Bring plenty of your strongest chips in order to survive her initial attack; if you can survive it, then beating her is easy.
After beating Yulan and seeing her after-battle scene and HCG, you can reload to get your Echo Hangers back, and to obtain the other HCGs related to this battle.
Obtaining Purslip
To obtain some Purslip to fight Yulan with, you have to go on a little quest:
- Once you're ranked 2nd or 3rd in the Colosseum, you can select an extra option to Ask About Yulan in the Colosseum.
- After that, call Sill in Paris Academy and ask her about Yulan twice.
- Go to the Beach Shop Baltic and ask about something slimy. It will be added to the shop; however, it will be far too expensive.
- After it's added to the shop, go to Menad—Unlock new area: Eighth Kitchen.
- Enter the Eighth Kitchen in the castle to meet and interact with Heidi.
- Talk to either Menad or Fey until they mention a kitchen thief.
- Return to the Eighth Kitchen and ask Heidi about bread twice.
- Make sure to have a free inventory slot, then enter the Eighth Kitchen at night for an event. Interact with her, then ask about Purslip, and then take the purslip.
- After leaving with the Purslip, you can return again at night to assault Heidi and get her HCG.
Fighting Yulan WITH the Purslip
To defeat Yulan, use the Purslip chip on turn 1 to negate her special attack. Then, defeat her on the second turn; do not wait, as Yulan will use her special attack again if you give her the chance.
Yulan's 3rd HCG
If you did not give Luis 10g in the Casino, you can now do Yulan's other events and get her 3rd HCG:
- 5 days after defeating her in the Colosseum, visit Millie's store for an event.
- 3 days after visiting Millie's store, visit the park for another event.
- Afterward, visit the Colosseum, Fujisaki Levels, Patty's store, and Millie's store.
- If you gave Luis 10g in the Casino, he will help Yulan before things get worse, and you won't get her 3rd HCG.
- Luis will not disappear from the Casino before Yulan's HCG occurs, so you still have the chance to up until this point.
- Otherwise, if you didn't give Luis 10g in the Casino, a battle event with John will occur. Defeat him to get Yulan's 3rd HCG.
- If you gave Luis 10g in the Casino, he will help Yulan before things get worse, and you won't get her 3rd HCG.
Regardless of whether you reach her 3rd HCG or not, her later lines do not change.
Innkeeper Nami's Events
At this point, if you used Purslip against Yulang, you'll be able to complete Nami's events. If you've tried assaulting her before, you may have already done the first or second events. They are as follows:
- Assault Nami for the first time (2.5% damage).
- 3 days later, assault her again (5% damage).
- 3 days later, assault her again (5% damage). This time, Rance will think of using Purslip against Nami.
- With Purslip in your inventory, assault Nami again to get her HCG. You'll need to buy it from Beach Shop Baltic for 30,000g. You will lose the Purslip chip after this.
- 2 days later, a new option to get in bed with Nami will appear. There's no CG, but it will heal you and reset any status effects. You will proceed to the next day just like the "Go to bed" option.
Getting cleaned by Fey
In order to get Fey's HCG event, you must first get a Straw chip. This is one of the random rewards you can get for every 1000g you spend at Millie's shop. You can save and reload when purchasing 1000g worth of items at the shop in order to guarantee getting the Straw chip.
Once you have it:
- Go to the Laplace Guest Room during the day and talk to Fey with the Straw chip in your inventory.
- Ask Fey about cleaning until she takes the Straw chip.
- Then assault her for her HCG.
Khien Manor
Event expiry: If you haven't done Millie's events yet, you could lose access to them!
- If you want to complete her previous events, you should be doing everything up to talking to Willis before entering the Haunted Mansion, otherwise you may end up locked out of the rest of the questline.
After defeating Ninja Master (rank 4) in the Colosseum, you will be able to meet Lia and unlock the Khien Manor. Before you enter it, you should first:
- Prepare—the monsters there are several times stronger than the other dungeons you've explored (except maybe the deeper parts of the Leazas Outskirts).
- You should finish up the Casino quests and defeat Yulan before going here. The Ghost Buster Sword that you get from defeating Yulan will be very useful.
- Useful items (you can purchase from Millie's shop):
- Compound Rapiers or better weapons.
- Indestructible Shield to stop Nubobos from stealing your experience.
- Coarse Guard to mitigate damage from B rank or higher attacks.
- In Beach Shop Baltic, exhaust the "Look at Something" option, and then the "Assault Patty" option, so that you accept the quest to retrieve a fireleaf.
First Time in the Khien Manor
Tip: You can occasionally get Echo Hangers chips in the first floor's treasure chests.
When you initially start exploring the Khien Manor, you will be stuck on the ground floor. You can't go up (barrels will keep rolling towards you) and the way down is locked.
If followed all the steps with Patty before entering, the first thing you should aim to do here is look for the Library to continue Patty's events. Once there:
- Kick Bookshelf
- Look At Books
- Take Fireleaf
Event expiry: Use the Fireleaf chip and you won't have it for Patty's HCG
Don't use it in battle if you want Patty's HCG. Instead, when you visit Patty's shop again while carrying it, you can assault her to get her 1st HCG.
- Patty will disappear for 3 days after this first HCG. Once she returns, you can assault her again for her 2nd HCG.
While you're doing your first run through the Khien Manor, you should also make sure to do the following actions, or else you won't be able to report back to Lia:
- Enter the Clock room, and look at the clock.
- Try descending the passage.
- Enter the Waiting Room.
- Although not required, you can Look at Fireplace twice, fight against 3 Fireplace Screaming Men in a row, and then Look at Fireplace once more to get a powerful sword.
Once you do all the above, you can leave the mansion. If you did everything, you'll get an event where Rance says he's ready to make a report.
Report Back to Lia
After visiting the manor, go back to the Princess's Waiting Room to report progress to Lia. Before you head back, you should:
- Buy a Barrelbuster from Patty's shop and bring it with you.
- If you have any, bring up to 2 Sand Lances, drops from Einsteins—these are the three-eyed purple snake monsters in the Leazas Outskirts. If you don't have any, you can alternatively bring 1600g in their place.
Once you have them, go back to the Waiting Room inside of Khein Manor.
- Select "Look at Paper", then you can go back to the passage and descend it.
Obtaining The Keys
Once downstairs, you'll see 2 blue cards on this floor for a "Suspicious Shadow". Selecting one of these cards will let you meet Necai again. This time, she has 2 keys that you need.
There are actually 3 ways you can get the keys from her:
- Pay her 800g per key by selecting "Give Money".
- Give her 1 sand lance per key, if you have them.
- Alternatively you can get them for free, it can be very tedious and difficult:
- The first time you meet her, just leave, you won't have to do anything.
- The next time you meet her, she'll have some new text, and an option will appear to fight her—after a quick scene where Rance punches but misses, Necai disappears.
- Repeat this 6 times and Rance will finally hit her. Necai will be killed, and you get the keys for free. Leaving the basement and returning does not reset the count. Note that if Necai is killed, it will prevent you from getting her post credits scene.
Make sure to get both the Frog Key and Cow Key. You don't have to get them at the same time if you're low on inventory space.
Frog and Cow Rooms
The "Frog Room" gives an HCG.
The "Cow room" has a similar scene.
After seeing the scene in the cow room, you need to go back a second time to get the Unhappy Glasses chip.
- Now that you have the Unhappy Glasses, you can assault Millie with them in your inventory to get her final HCG.
You have to check at least one of these to be able to adjust the clock later on.
Squid Room
Next destination is the Squid Room. Here, you should:
- Look at Wooden Horse twice.
- Look at Key.
- Take Key.
The next step is to go back upstairs, and upstairs again so you get to the 2nd floor.
You should be able to get there as long as you have the Barrel Buster chip; you will lose it, and then have to battle a boss gorilla.
Ape and Small Rooms
Go to the Ape Room 3 times and you will get the "Khien Shield", a decent defense chip.
- You can also try to get the "Tiger Paw", a pretty good weapon that can drop from randomly-spawning B chests on the 2nd floor.
In the Small Room:
- Search Nightstand twice.
- Search Bed twice.
- Look at Diary—the diary will inform you about the time at which the torture for the ghost girl lasted. You will lose the small key after.
Adjust the clock
Event expiry: Adjust the clock and you can miss out HCGs and items from the previous rooms
Return to the Clock Room on the first floor. Then:
- Select "Touch Clock".
- Ask About Ghost three times.
- Touch Ghost.
Event expiry: If you progress past this point, you'll be locked out of Yulan, Heidi, and Nami's scenes; also, Sill's first HCG.
- See their previous mentions if you want to finish their scenes before progressing.
Once you're ready, go back to Leazas Castle to report back to Princess Lia.
- Go to the Princess's Waiting Room and select "Report Progress".
- Ask About Khein Manor twice.
- Ask About Hikari.
- Assault Lia.
After the scene, you will finally regroup with Sill, and will get one attack and defense chip each for her. You will also receive two more inventory spaces, and a skill that lets you heal a little after each battle.
- If you haven't beaten Yulan yet, she will get a power up when Sill joins you, and her sword chip will change.
Princess's Hideout
Before going after the princess, you still have the chance to do some events that you missed. You can flee back to town at any time, up until just before the last boss, so feel free to take your time with any events that haven't expired yet.
You should also stock up on items from the shops, as there are many battles leading up to the end.
Once you're ready, you can begin the final quest:
- Return to Khein Manor's basement.
- Loop around the dungeon to enter the Kitty room. Afterwards, return to the town.
- Return to Khein Manor's basement and go downstairs again to find the secret passageway to the castle.
- Continue down the dungeon. Defeat the Jellyfish Mk2 enemy on the left side once you reach it, and choose the leftmost card next twice to reach the secret passage under Lia's room. (Yes, there's a chest, but it forces you to loop around.)
- In the underground passageway, you can find the door that leads back to the Princess's Waiting Room to unlock it. You will now be able to access the secret passageway directly from the Princess's Waiting Room.
From here you can save and then return to the underground passageway.
- Fight the ninja a minimum of two times in blue cards, then fight her one more time on the right side in the blue card labeled "Ninja". She is guarding Lia's hideout. If you leave the area, you need to fight her a minimum of two times again as her blue cards are blocking the path to the Ninja card. (If you're having trouble, refer to the map)
- Finally, enter the hideout. The path is straightforward, you can just avoid the other monsters and only deal with the necessary battles.
- First, you need to fight a Stone Guardian. There is no way to avoid fighting it, although you can see different lines by trying different options. Its attacks are all weak, but it has very high defense.
- Following this is a fight with Maris. You can use the this fight to reset your cooldowns, as she won't fight back.
- After this is one final battle. Be wary of when it says "Magic Defend", as using Sill's attack will nullify any damage against the enemy.
- Finally, go and deliver your hammer of justice on the princess.
FIN.
After this is just some extra postgame/bonus content you can do afterward.
Uruncel's Lair
This is a secret location hidden in the Leazas Outskirts. The entrance is hidden as normal fields card in the center lane, after rank A+ lynxes starts appearing. A blue card inside warns you that you cannot choose to hurry back to town inside the lair and you must exit by taking the exit card to the right of the blue card. The dungeon has several special characteristics :
- It is a very long dungeon, it is impossible to reach the end in a single day. You will need to use the high potion to remove the sleepiness condition. You can get them from the chests in this area.
- A unique techno music track reminiscent of very old games plays in this area.
- There are many traps.
- Strong Uruncel monsters appear in this area. They do not give particularly good exp or gold for their difficulty and have a strange appearance.
- In order to loop back to the starting point, you must defeat the Uruncel Heaven boss which has 6666 hp. It is located in the center lane, and all other lanes are a dead end. A chest behind the boss contains the 450 ATK, 0 cooldown Uruncel sword.
In order to successfully clear the dungeon, it is recommended that you have/are the following :
- At least level 25, preferably at least level 28
- Have obtained Sill
- At least 6 Super Swords or better weapons (the more you have the better)
- At least 2 Buster Swords
- 1x Inadequate Clock (use before fighting the Uruncel Heaven)
- 1x High Potion (more can be found in chests in the area, so not really necessary)
- 1x Dummies (to remove all status conditions after using the High Potion)
- 1x Land Firefly (not certain if it works here)
- 1x Sururin-kun
- At least 2 Course Guard Mk2 shields or better as the Uruncel Heaven does 700+ damage each turn
With Sill and the Super Metabolism skill, you should be able to heal most of the damage you take from the Uruncels on the way to the boss, as long as you make sure to kill all the uruncels in 1-2 turns. 2x super swords will kill most of the Uruncels in one turn, and the 2222 hp Uruncels can be killed with 1 buster sword + 1 super sword. Green Uruncels can be used to lower cooldown by 2 turns because they do no damage on turn 2.
Bonus objectives
The bonus objectives are icons that will appear on your Certificate once completed. Completing the bonus objectives does not unlock any new scenes or provide any bonuses in subsequent playthroughs.
